All of the cartoon character fire hydrants in Bruce Park (approximately 30 of them) were replaced except the original one at 1880 Assiniboia Avenue. After Pépé Le Pew was replaced along with all of the others, an anonymous neighbour painted two teary eyes on the new plug along with the plaintive cry 'WHY?'.
